How to find raves?

Dear Glitterbuggg, i’v been trying to rave for a while (i’m 17) and its been proven to be very difficult for me to find any! how do i get into that scene?

The rave scene is a weird one to get in to.

The usual path is for a friend who is a raver to take you. If you aren’t friends with ravers… you should be. They’re awesome. You can sometimes tell who they are by having one or more of the following:

-Kandi

-An obsession with electronic dance music, “techno” -

-an obsession with telling people, “It’s not called techno - it’s not deadmau-five!”

-Lots of colorful accessories, small plush backpacks, scene hair, etc

-an alternative nature. Maybe dreads, maybe piercings, ravers are known to be a little crazy

If that fails, you need to start doing some real research. Look up raving websites. The ones I know work for my scene, Phoenix, post about upcoming parties and events. Dontstayin.com, and plurlife.com. There could be some specific to your area. Find them.

Also check out DJ/Producer websites. If there is a Skrillex show in your area, go to it. You’ll find other Skrillex afficionados and learn about your local electronic music scene. The clubs that host these artists also typically host local electronic artists on different days or weeks. Learn more about that venue. Look for people passing out fliers.

That’s another thing - the fliers. Anytime you see someone passing out a flier, take it. No matter what. Then check it out and see if for a rave. NOTE - these fliers never actually say they are a rave. You have to infer it.

Lastly, utilize sites like tumblr. Try to find other people in your area here online. Find someone with lots of followers, and post in their ask if they know anyone from your area. Even if they don’t, they’ll likely post it (I always do ^-^) and some ravers from your area may see it and reply :)

Aside from that, I can’t really say. persistence is key! And always have a plur attitude :) If you’re open to all kinds of people, a raver will probably stumble your way. But not if youre closed minded.

zomgraveclothes asked:you left out ravelinks.com when you answered that girls question.
plurlife.com is region specific, since it’s member driven. there’s 100x more cali ravers on there than there are DC members, not because there are that many more of them on there, but within the local community, plurlife is not promoted. make sense? Dontstayin.com is similar. AZ and CA are pretty huge on there, but only because everyone is posting pictures and making accounts from those areas. There used to be a promoter here in Dallas who listed all of her event pictures on DSI and Plurlife, and for a brief while EVERYONE in the Dallas scene had plurlife and DSI accounts. then the hype died, she moved to miami and now everyone just uses facebook or the TR site.
she might check the raversonly.com event forums (i don’t know if they are specific to only the RO events, or if its for everything in the NY area) and DC isn’t far from, say, baltimore, where parties happen every weekend. (starscape festival anyone?)
also, I’m 100% certain there’s more message boards dedicated to northeast raves, but i couldn’t tell you off the top of my head.

Baltimore Raves:

tranceprncessWell theres this place in Dundalk/Baltimore called THE BLACKHOLE. They throw raves there every week.
